The talented sophomore comes to East Lansing through some rather strange circumstances. MacKenzie was originally raised in East Lansing, but prepped in New Jersey at the prestigious Pennington School and choose Michigan State over several NCAA scholarship opportunities. She was voted the top mid-fielder in New Jersey by the high school coaches association. MacKenzie will be counted on to score a lot for the Spartans' offense. She was the team’s third leading scorer a year ago. "Mackenzie is a huge addition to the Spartan lacrosse family. She's talented, fast, knows how to play within our system and has great lax IQ," said Michigan State's head coach Greg Normand. "What we didn't know is just how much of a warrior she is when Mac plays. I watched her dish it out when someone would take advantage of her smallish frame....she's no wall flower." Normand said Meyer's biggest strength is that she knows how to finish as an offensive player. "She knows how to score and you can never have enough of those type of players," he said. MacKenzie is the team treasurer. |
