The swift-footed sophomore surprised most of the Spartan coaching staff last year with her ability to play defense, despite her smallish size. And this year, they were equally surprised to see how quickly she adapted to a change to midfield because of her speed and ability to get to the net. The Ann Arbor Huron standout started slowly this fall learning the MSU offense, but quickly became a mainstay as a midfielder. “It took a bit of time to see what Barbara could do offensively, but I think we were all amazed this spring just how far she came and I think she might be better suited for the college game than high school,” said Greg Normand, MSU’s head coach. Normand said she’s smart, never gets beat and has a strong lacrosse IQ…..”which is exactly what we need at midfield in 2016.” |
