Coming back for her senior year, Rachel Banas adds a dimension to the Spartan offense they didn’t expect this fall. Banas played as a sophomore for MSU after a freshman season competing for the NCAA Division I power Colorado, but didn’t play a year ago because of academic constraints. But she’s back this year, in full force, the the coaching staff expects big things from the talented Lake Forest, Illinois native. “Rachel had been a midfielder in the earlier part of her career, but I think she’s best suited to play attack because of her obvious offensive talents,” said Greg Normand, MSU’s head coach. “I think she brings us a dimension at attack that we lost with Kleigh Egnatuk stepping aside this year to concentrate on school and I really believe that Rachel can have any kind of year she wants because I think she’s that talented, but has been missing using all that talent because if outside distractions……and this year, I think she’s focus and ready to play.” |
