The speed blur you might see running around the field for Michigan State this season is Shoko Hiruta, a Japanese exchange student who is trying her hand at lacrosse in America. Hiruta, who hails from Kanagawa University High School in Yokohama, Japan, was a star prep player back home and is hoping to translate that ability into a full time gig as a Spartan midfielder. “Shoko is certainly the fastest player on the team and she’s getting more comfortable with the speed in which we play collegiately daily. Shoko is a smart player and knows the game, but improve her stick skills to play a regular role on the field for us this spring. She’s a great young lady and we’re really glad she’s playing this year,” said Greg Normand, MSU’s head coach. |
