The Spartans starting goalie is a senior from Grosse Pointe North High School and she returned to a position she played as a freshman for the first time last year and continued to grow and grow as the Spartans’ starting net minder in 2015. “The move to goalie is never easy, but it was easier for Kelly because she’s so athletic and more importantly because she is a smart player who uses lacrosse IQ to play at a high level. “What Kelly did last year was amazing having never really played goaltender at the collegiate level. We won double digit games last year because of her ability and she’s only getting better,” said Greg Normand, MSU's head coach. “I think we go this year as Kelly carries us and that’s saying something because Olivia (Akerly) is a solid talent who will push her all year. I love Kelly more than you know because she’s just a great young lady.” |
