Twelfth Instance Of A Team At SBCC

The women's lacrosse club has restarted at Santa Barbara City College. It took the Vaqueros two academic years to bounce back from Covid 2020 but it will be the 12th time the Vaqueros have competed, starting with the club that played in 2007-08. SBCC will be in the U.S.A Lacrosse WCLA for national affiliation and the Western Women's Lacrosse League for conference play. The WWLL has placed SBCC in WWLL Central D2.

SBCC has eyes on eventual California Community College Athletic Association membership and will play Moorpark College and Fullerton College twice each. The CCCAA hasn't yet grabbed onto women's lacrosse as a state championship sport but SBCC leadership believes it is only a matter of time. This is similar to the way Chapman, Claremont, Occidental, Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier all started out in the WWLL but now are NCAA DIII programs.
